Collagen is basically made out of proteins and is considered to be one of the most abundant protein in your body or specifically, about one-third of its protein composition. As you age, the production of collagen becomes lesser and in lower quality.

- Vitamin C – this nutrient is largely found in citrus fruits and vegetables like bell peppers
- Proline – these are found when consuming dairy mushrooms, asparagus, large amount of egg whites and wheat germ
- Glycine – this is mostly found in several protein-containing foods and skin of meat products such as pork skin and chicken skin
- Copper – this is found in produce containing seeds like sesame seeds, cashews and lentils. It can also be found in organ meats and cocoa powder
